Questions and answers
What people ask before they start, and once they have.
The basics
What is Znable?
Znable is an AI tutor and coach for training your team. You give it your company's know-how, as documents or an interview with an expert. It drafts the training, a manager approves it, and then each person learns it in conversation with their own tutor.
Who is it for?
Small and growing businesses that need to train people but don't have a training department. If a role can be described, in a handbook or by the person who does it best, Znable can teach it.
Do I need to know how to write training?
No. Znable drafts the skills, lessons and check questions for you. Your job is to read the draft, fix anything that isn't how your business does it, and approve it.
What do I need to get started?
An email address, your company's name, and something to teach from: a document, about fifteen minutes with someone who knows the job, or one of the starter templates. You can assign yourself first to see exactly what a learner sees.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Znable runs in the web browser on phones, tablets and computers, so there's nothing to install. Learners can speak and listen instead of typing.
Your training
What documents can I use?
PDF, Word (.docx) and plain text files, up to 20 MB each. The text has to be readable, so a PDF that is a scan or photo of pages won't work yet; Znable will tell you if a file can't be read.
What if nothing is written down?
Use the interview. Sit with the owner or a top performer, and Znable asks them about the job, by voice or typing, for about fifteen minutes. Their answers become a course's material, drafted and reviewed like any document. You can also start from a general template and adapt it.
Will the AI make things up?
Znable is told to draft lessons and questions only from your material, and in the review each lesson lists the passages it came from, so you can check it. Nothing reaches a learner until an owner or manager approves it. If a learner asks the tutor something your material doesn't answer, you see the question on your This week page, so you can add what's missing.
What are courses?
A job can be split into courses, each taught from its own documents: a front desk job might have courses on greeting guests, bookings and complaints. You choose whether they're taken in order or in any order, and someone has learned the job when they've finished every course.
Can I change the training later?
Yes. You can edit any lesson or question, add a course at any time, and redraft a course nobody has started. Once people are learning a course, you change it by editing it in the review, so nobody's progress is lost.
What about skills you have to see someone do?
Mark the skill as one that has to be seen done. Learners still learn and pass the check with the tutor, and then Znable tells you they're ready for you to watch, with a checklist of what to look for. The skill counts as learned when you sign it off.
Learning
What does learning with Znable look like?
Each person sees their path: every skill, which are open now, and the finish. They pick a skill or follow the suggested next one, and the tutor teaches it in conversation, sets practice, and asks a check question when they're ready.
How does Znable decide someone has learned a skill?
From their marked answers, by fixed rules. A separate marker scores each answer against what the lesson says, and the rules decide when practice is enough and when a check has been passed. The AI never declares a skill learned on its own, and every step it chooses is recorded with its reason.
Can experienced people skip what they know?
Yes. They can test out of a skill by answering its questions with no help, or work through a whole course that way. Every skill they get all right is done, or waits for your sign-off if it has to be seen done; the tutor teaches the rest. There's one go at each skill.
What happens if someone gets stuck?
If someone keeps missing the same skill, Znable stops pushing and tells their manager, who can go through it with them and then let them try again.
What if an answer was marked wrongly?
The learner can ask their manager to look at it. The manager sees that question, the answer and why it was marked as it was, and can keep the mark or correct it.
What does the coach do?
A learner can check in with the coach for a couple of minutes. It looks at how their learning is going and helps them set a goal for the week and a plan for fitting it around their work. Their manager sees the goal as a number and how it's going, not the conversation.
Privacy and data
What can managers see?
Progress on every skill, marks, the reason for each step, sign-offs and goals as numbers. Managers don't see the conversations with the tutor or coach. They see an answer only when a learner asks for its mark to be looked at, and questions your documents couldn't answer, without who asked them.
Is our material used to train AI models?
No. Znable uses Anthropic and OpenAI through their services for businesses, which don't use what's sent to them to train their models. They may keep it for a limited time to watch for misuse, as their terms set out.
Is our information kept apart from other companies?
Yes. Every company's information is separated in the database itself, so one company's people can never reach another's.
Are voice recordings kept?
Znable doesn't keep them. Speech is sent to OpenAI to be turned into text, and the recording is then dropped; OpenAI may keep it for a limited time to watch for misuse, as its terms set out. Each conversation shows a notice before the microphone is turned on.
Can we get a copy of our data, or delete it?
Yes. Your company's owner can ask for either by emailing us.
Plans
How much does it cost?
Every company starts with a free 30-day trial with every feature and no card needed. After that, companies move to a pilot plan agreed with us. See the pricing page for what's included.
What happens when the trial ends?
Znable's AI pauses: lessons, the coach, voice, drafting and reading new documents. Your training and everyone's progress are kept, and it all carries on once you're on a plan.
Is there a limit on how many people we can train?
Up to 100 people per company for now; email us if you need more. Each plan, the trial included, has a monthly allowance for AI use. Owners and managers can see how much has been used on the Usage page, and if it runs out, the AI pauses until the next month.
